North America: District of Columbia - Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill

TravelPage.com Rating:Four Stars

Review by Margaret Pearson, TravelPage.com Contributing Editor

Overview
When it comes to service and location, the Hyatt Capitol Hill has so much to offer it's guests. Only a 10 minute ride from Washington's Reagan airport and two blocks from the Capitol building and Library of Congress, most sight-seeing can be done within walking distance. Also, only two blocks away is the 1907 Beaux-Arts Union Station home to Amtrak, the Metro subway and 100 shops and restaurants. The Smithsonian is also a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Facilities
The hotel has 834 guest rooms which underwent complete renovation in 1999 and caters to many large-scale conventions. The conference facilities can hold about 1500 people. The standard guest rooms feature ironing board/iron, hair dryers, minibar, remote control television with free and pay channels and telephone with voice mail. There is an option of smoking or non-smoking rooms with king size beds or two double beds and several types of suites.

For only $20 extra, the hotel had 50 Business Plan rooms located on the ninth floor which have a fax machine, two line phone, coffee maker and complimentary continental breakfast as well as complimentary use of the health club and business center with Xerox copier, laser printer and other business services. Moreover, there are no local access charges for local or credit card phone calls. The top floor of the hotel features the Capitol Hill Dining Club offering a great view along with great food.

The hotel is a favorite with repeat business travellers. Guest service is impeccable. It would be nice if Hyatt adds these amenities to more of its rooms. There is a fully equipped fitness club and pool.

What impresses the most about the hotel are the vibrant doormen that greet you. Can't forget their welcoming touch.

Prices
Prices range from $150 to over $300 per night depending on the time of year.
