Great Falls, Va., April 6, 2002 - Holland America Line received top honors in TravelPage.com's 7th annual Internet Cruise Survey. The survey rates cruise lines in seven categories and also tracks Internet users favorite cruise ships and cruise destinations. Holland America scored highest in three of the seven categories including Best Cruise Line, Best Service, Best Cabins and was rated number two in the Best Food and Best Public Rooms and Best Itinerary categories.

Celebrity Cruises scored well this year survey receiving top marks again in Best Food and a number two rating for Best Service. Princess topped the Best Itinerary category and Royal Caribbean was rated as having the Best Public Rooms. The Caribbean remained respondents favorite destination followed by Alaska.

Over 600 Internet users responded to the 2001 survey which was conducted online at the TravelPage.com website this past fall. Respondents rated over 30 cruise lines and 200 cruise ships.

The Internet Cruise Survey reflects the changing opinions and demographics of the Internet community. When the survey was first published in 1995, the vast majority of respondents had been on one or possibly two cruises. This year, the typical respondent had been on eight or more cruises and more than 18% had been on 20 or more cruises.

Likewise, in 1995 almost all of the respondents had first cruised within the past five years. This year only 21% had first cruised within the past five years and over 16% had taken their first cruise more than 25 years ago.

In the favorite ship category, Cunard's Queen Elizabeth 2 was listed as a favorite by readers. Other favorites included, HAL's Rotterdam, Princess' Grand Princess, and NCL's Norway. The fact that two of the top four were former liners suggests that respondents appreciate a ship with a distinctive personality more than a ship sporting the latest amenities and innovations.
